This course covers some of the main challenges facing Japanese society today and how nonprofit NGOs deal with those issues. After reviewing the development of civil society in Japan, each week covers a specific issue and the approaches use to meet the needs of different people. This issues-based course is for anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of the work of local nonprofit organizations and current issues facing Japanese society.
