RESULTS Japan, a non-profit citizens¡Ç advocacy organization dedicated to generating the public and political will to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty, is seeking a Project Administrator for its global tuberculosis (TB) advocacy project, ¡ÈAdvocacy to Control TB Internationally¡É (ACTION). This position is funded by RESULTS Japan through ACTION, a three-year project that commenced in January 2005. This is a full-time position or half-time based in Tokyo at the RESULTS Japan office.
Background:
ACTION utilizes policy analysis strategies, and communications and advocacy tools to mobilize increased financial resources in four developed countries (Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, United States) for the expansion of effective TB treatment in the developing world. RESULTS Educational Fund based in Washington, DC in the United States is the lead organization for ACTION and works closely with RESULTS international affiliates in Canada, Japan and the UK to achieve its overall objective. Since the project was launched in January 2005, RESULTS Japan has conducted research on government spending for global TB by the Japanese government and on government processes for allocating resources for global TB, hosted international TB and TB-HIV activists and experts in Japan to help raise the issue of TB and TB-HIV with policymakers and the media, organized TB-HIV workshops at major international conferences and worked with Diet members to educate them about TB and TB-HIV globally to help build their support.
Responsibilities of the Project Administrator position include:
• Providing overall office management and administrative support to the ACTION project and staff in Japan
• Facilitating staff planning through organized meetings and other mechanisms on a regular basis
• Overseeing financial management of the project, including accounting systems, budgets and reporting
• Liaising with RESULTS Japan¡Çs Board of Directors to update them on the project
• Conducting staff trainings as necessary
Qualifications include:
• At least 5 years administrative experience. Management and accounting experience a plus.
• Minimum Bachelor¡Çs degree, Master¡Çs degree preferred, in public policy, public health, international development/affairs, business, accounting, or other related fields
• Superior speaking and writing skills of reports and business letters in both English and Japanese
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel spreadsheet.
• Ability to work well on a team and with various partners
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proven commitment to international development/poverty issues
